PostgreSQL Developer

Role Overview :

We are seeking a seasoned PostgreSQL Developer to join our core engineering team in Bangalore, tasked with architecting and maintaining high-performance database systems that serve as the backbone of our enterprise applications. In this role, you will lead the design of complex data schemas, oversee large-scale cluster management, and drive database tuning initiatives to ensure sub-millisecond latency for our global user base.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional product teams, infrastructure engineers, and senior stakeholders to align database strategies with evolving business requirements, directly influencing the scalability and reliability of our platform. By optimizing our data layer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall customer experience and driving operational excellence across our technical ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities :

• Architect and implement robust PostgreSQL database solutions to support high-concurrency environments, ensuring seamless data integrity and availability for critical business operations.
• Execute advanced database tuning and query optimization strategies to minimize latency and maximize throughput for complex analytical and transactional workloads.
• Manage and scale multi-node PostgreSQL clusters, implementing automated failover and disaster recovery protocols to maintain 99.99% system uptime.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated monitoring dashboards using Grafana to provide real-time visibility into database health, performance metrics, and resource utilization for the engineering leadership.
• Automate routine maintenance, backup, and deployment tasks through the development of efficient Shell scripts, reducing manual overhead and minimizing human error in production environments.
• Partner with software architects to review schema designs and provide expert guidance on SQL best practices, fostering a culture of high-performance coding across the development organization.

Required Skillset:

• Demonstrated mastery in designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-grade PostgreSQL environments, supported by 10 - 15 years of hands-on experience in database engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL development, including complex query optimization, stored procedures, and indexing strategies tailored for high-volume data processing.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve deep-seated performance bottlenecks within database clusters, utilizing diagnostic tools and deep technical intuition.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure automation and system administration, with a focus on Shell scripting to streamline database operations and monitoring workflows.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical database constraints into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
• A collaborative mindset, comfortable working in a hybrid office environment in Bangalore, and capable of mentoring junior engineers to elevate the collective technical capability of the team.
• A solid academic foundation in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning and technical rigor.
