Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Python Test Automation Engineer to lead the design, development and maintenance of robust automation frameworks and test execution infrastructure. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on expertise in Python, Pytest, framework development from scratch, and Linux-based testing, along with the ability to drive automation strategy and mentor engineering teams.

Core Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on Python programming.
• Advanced Pytest experience.
• Proven experience designing and developing test automation frameworks from scratch, end to end.
• Strong hands-on Linux/Unix experience, including shell scripting, command-line operations, log analysis and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience in test automation architecture, regression testing, debugging and framework optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design and implementation of Python/Pytest automation frameworks from scratch.
• Develop reusable libraries, fixtures, test runners, configuration modules, reporting and evidence-capture utilities.
• Establish automation standards, coding practices, framework scalability and maintainability.
• Lead automation strategy for functional, integration, regression and system-level testing.
• Develop or extend test harnesses and simulators for system-level testing where applicable.
• Perform hands-on debugging and troubleshooting in Linux environments.
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines and improve execution reliability.
• Analyze failures, conduct root-cause investigations and distinguish product defects from automation issues.
• Collaborate with software development, system testing and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Mentor automation engineers, conduct code reviews and drive continuous improvement.

Good-to-Have Skills

• C++ programming and simulation experience.
• Test harness development, embedded testing or system integration testing.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
• SIL/HIL testing or experience with safety-critical systems.
• Experience with complex industrial, medical technology or railway systems.

Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of relevant software testing and automation experience.
• Demonstrated technical leadership combined with hands-on engineering capability.
• Must have personally developed an automation framework from scratch.
• Must have strong practical Linux experience.
• Experience limited to maintaining existing frameworks or writing test scripts alone will not meet the core requirement.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering or a related discipline.
