About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build the core backend platform powering AI agents. You will design and develop scalable distributed systems, workflow orchestration, tool execution services, event-driven architectures, and APIs that enable AI agents to safely interact with business applications.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring strong backend engineering and system design expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable backend services and microservices.
- Develop REST APIs, workflow engines, background workers, queues, and event-driven systems.
- Build reliable backend infrastructure with retries, observability, logging, access control, and fault tolerance.
- Integrate with third-party APIs and internal business systems.
- Work with AI engineers to enable tool calling, function calling, RAG workflows, and LLM orchestration.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and production reliability.
Required Skills:
- 58 years of backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with Microservices, Distributed Systems, REST APIs, and System Design.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other event-driven messaging systems.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS/GCP.
- Understanding of scalable backend architecture, asynchronous processing, caching, and observability.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar LLM orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, RAG, Function Calling, Tool Calling, Vector Databases (Pinecone/Qdrant), and AI Agent workflows.
- Experience building production-grade backend platforms for AI or workflow automation.
