Senior Java Developer - Spring Boot

Job Description :

Role & Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
• Drive the modernization of legacy Spring applications into independently deployable services using a strangler-pattern migration approach.
• Design secure and consistent RESTful APIs using Spring Cloud Gateway with standards for versioning, error handling, pagination, and multi-tenancy.
• Build and maintain shared backend components including authentication filters, HTTP clients, Redis utilities, and AWS messaging integrations.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using Spring Security, JWT, and method-level authorization.
• Develop reliable event-driven workflows using AWS SQS, SNS, and EventBridge, including retry handling, DLQs, idempotency, and deduplication.
• Build high-performance reactive services using Spring WebFlux and Project Reactor.
• Design and optimize data access using PostgreSQL, Hibernate/JPA, and Redis.
• Ensure strong automated testing, observability, security, and production readiness across services.
• Participate in architecture and code reviews while mentoring engineers on backend engineering, security, and API best practices.
• Follow secure engineering practices aligned with HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, PHI protection, encryption, and least-privilege access.

Preferred candidate profile :

Must-Have Skills :

• 8 years of backend development experience with Java.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot 3/4 and Spring Framework 6.
• Strong experience in Microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Production experience with Spring WebFlux and Project Reactor.
• Strong expertise in Spring Security, JWT authentication, security filter chains, and authorization.
• Experience decomposing or modernizing production monolithic applications into microservices.
• Strong knowledge of REST API design and API standardization.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL, Hibernate/JPA, schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with AWS SQS and SNS, including FIFO queues, DLQs, retries, and idempotent consumers.
• Strong experience with Redis, including caching, distributed sessions, and TTL management.
• Experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of AWS RDS, ECS, S3, VPC, and IAM.
• Ability to independently own technical deliverables from design through deployment and production support.

Nice-to-Have Skills :

• Experience with Spring Cloud Gateway and Eureka.
• Exposure to AWS EventBridge and event-bus architecture patterns.
• Experience deploying applications on ECS/Fargate.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, OIDC, and AWS CodeArtifact.
• Knowledge of observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems in production environments.
• Exposure to Python for backend or data-processing workloads.
• Healthcare domain experience or familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, and PHI data handling.
• Experience maintaining shared internal libraries or platforms used across multiple engineering teams.
