We're hiring experienced software engineers in India for a flexible, task-based engineering network
. You'll work on real engineering problems in real codebases — your work sets the quality bar that frontier AI coding agents are measured against. This is hands-on engineering, done without AI assistance.
What you'll do
- Work through real engineering tasks in existing repositories: reason across unfamiliar codebases, scope the relevant implementation surface, and execute against a clear objective
- Develop directly in a provided sandbox/terminal environment — edit code, run package managers and test suites, navigate and debug
- Validate your work with unit/integration tests and tooling
- Package and reproduce environments with Docker where needed
- Submit clean deliverables: code diffs, passing tests, and clear implementation notes
We're looking for engineers strong in at least one of:
Java · Python · C++ · Go · TypeScript/JavaScript
Must-haves
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience (internships excluded)
- Comfortable navigating mid-to-large, multi-module codebases
- Terminal-driven workflow fluency — shell/CLI, package managers, test runners
- Docker — able to build Dockerfiles to package and reproduce environments
- Strong testing discipline
- Able to work independently from detailed instructions, with good judgment under ambiguous specs
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- Committed to doing the work yourself, without AI assistance
- Open-source contribution history preferred
Engagement
- Fully remote, flexible hours — you choose when and how much you work
- Task-based, paid per approved task:
$60–65/task
- Tasks typically run 3–5 hours
