Senior Software Test Engineer - Java/Playwright Testing

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Testing Engineer with strong expertise in Automation Testing using Playwright and Java.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and release efficiency.

This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about automation, quality engineering, and continuous improvement in Agile environments.

Note : Candidates must be available for an in-person (Face-to-Face) interview in Pune.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks using Playwright with Java.
• Develop and execute automated test scripts for web applications across multiple browsers.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
• Analyze business requirements and prepare effective test strategies, test scenarios, and test cases.
• Identify, log, track, and verify software defects using defect management tools.
• Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
• Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality releases.
• Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, and code reviews.
• Continuously improve automation coverage, framework scalability, and testing efficiency.
• Prepare test execution reports and communicate quality metrics to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to automation best practices.

Mandatory Skills :

• 5+ years of experience in Software Testing with a strong focus on Automation Testing.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright.
• Strong programming skills in Java.
• Experience in developing and maintaining test automation frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Web UI Automation.
• Experience in Functional, Regression, Smoke, Integration, and End-to-End Testing.
• Experience with API Testing using tools such as Postman or Rest Assured.
• Good understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Good to Have :

• Experience with Selenium, Cypress, or other automation tools.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Performance testing exposure using JMeter or similar tools.
• SQL and database testing experience.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
• Docker and containerized testing environments.
• Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• ISTQB Certification is an added advantage.
