Automation SDET (Java Selenium)

About the Role :
We are looking for a highly skilled Automation SDET with strong expertise in Java-based test automation. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy owning automation strategy, designing robust test frameworks, and mentoring team members while remaining hands-on.
You will work closely with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality software delivery in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Java and Selenium
- Perform API automation testing using Rest Assured
- Create and execute automated and manual test cases, test scripts, and test plans
- Prepare and maintain Traceability Matrix (RTM) and test documentation
- Apply BDD frameworks (Cucumber or similar) for automation scenarios
- Execute database validations using SQL queries
- Lead and mentor a medium-sized QA team while remaining hands-on
- Contribute to automation strategy, test design techniques, and best practices
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and collaborate across onsite-offshore teams
- Track defects and test execution using tools like ALM and JIRA
Must-Have Skills :
- 5 years of experience in Automation Testing / SDET roles
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Selenium
- In-depth understanding of Core Java concepts :
- OOP principles
- Collections Framework
- Exception Handling
- Hands-on experience with API automation (Rest Assured)
- Strong SQL skills for backend data validation
- Experience working with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, etc.)
- Solid understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
Leadership & Collaboration Skills :
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
- Experience leading and mentoring a QA team
- Comfortable working in an onsite-offshore delivery model
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Good to Have :
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle)
- Exposure to cloud-based testing or microservices architectures
- Domain experience in BFSI, Telecom, or Retail (preferred but not mandatory)
