Sr Engineer Software - Java Full Stack

Full Stack Lead DeveloperRole Summary The Full Stack Developer plays a critical role on the engineering team, responsible for building and supporting secure, scalable, and performant user-facing applications and backend services.

This role contributes across the full technology stack-front end, backend services, integration, and data-delivering solutions that meet business requirements while aligning with long-term strategic architecture.

The Full Stack Developer works in a collaborative Agile environment alongside Architects, UX/UI designers, Quality Assurance, Business Systems Analysts, and Product / Project Managers. They are expected to contribute to development standards, reusable components, and best practices across the organization's digital platforms.

Key ResponsibilitiesApplication Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive, accessible, and maintainable web applications and supporting backend services.
• Build modern user interfaces using JavaScript frameworks and component-based architectures.
• Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support Single Page Applications and external integrations.
• Ensure applications are performant, secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architectural standards.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service interfaces.

Technical Standards &

• Quality

• Write well-structured, testable, and efficient code following agreed coding standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, PR reviews, and continuous improvement of code quality.
• Define and contribute to shared frameworks, reusable components, and development standards.
• Ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements, including accessibility (WCAG) compliance.

Delivery &

• Collaboration

• Contribute across all phases of the development lifecycle, from design through build, test, and release.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, QA, Architects, and other developers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Support testing activities through unit testing and end-to-end testing.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior developers as required.

Operations &

• DevOps

• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated build processes.
• Assist with diagnosing and resolving production and non-production issues.
• Contribute to release preparation and ongoing application support.
• Work within cloud-based and containerised deployment environments.

Required Qualifications &

• ExperienceEducation &

• Experience

• University or college education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5-7 years of professional software development experience across front-end and backend technologies.

Front-End Skills

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Vue, React).
• Strong experience with responsive UI design using SASS, LESS, and modern CSS layout techniques (e.g. CSS Grid).
• Solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility and client-side debugging tools.
• Experience building accessible applications compliant with WCAG guidelines.

Backend &

• Integration Skills

• Proven experience developing applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and building Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Experience in Cloud technology - AWS.
• Exposure to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Docker, Kafka, Swagger.
• Strong understanding of modular and service-based architectures.
• Experience integrating backend services with front-end applications.

Data &

• Persistence

• Working knowledge of MongoDB.
• Familiarity with other NoSQL and relational databases.

Tooling &

• DevOps

• Strong working knowledge of Git or similar version control systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker, GitLab, or equivalent.
• Exposure to cloud-first development and containerised environments (e.g. AWS-based deployments).

Ways of Working

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environments.

Desirable Assets

• Experience contributing to shared platforms, frameworks, or component libraries.
• Experience mentoring junior developers or supporting development standards.
• Knowledge on Appian product, Ingenium Product.
• Exposure to large-scale enterprise digital platforms and multi-team delivery models.
