Techsophy - Senior Scala Developer - Functional Programming

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Scala Developer with 4 years of software product development experience to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services that support business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala and Functional Programming principles.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices using the Play Framework.
• Develop highly reliable and low-latency services capable of handling high transaction volumes.
• Design event-driven and distributed systems using Apache Kafka.
• Work with Elasticsearch for search, indexing, and data retrieval requirements.
• Develop efficient queries and data models using SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Work with Cassandra and other distributed databases where required.
• Analyze technical requirements, participate in architecture discussions, and contribute to system design decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code following software engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot performance, scalability, and production issues and implement effective solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers to deliver high-quality product features.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Tech Stack &

Requirements :

• 4 years of experience in software product development.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Scala and Functional Programming.
• Experience developing applications using Play Framework and REST-based microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and Elasticsearch.
• Good knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Cassandra and distributed data stores.
• Experience building low-latency, high-throughput/high-transactional services.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, API design, and scalable backend architecture.
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile and collaborative development environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience with cloud platforms and containerized environments such as Docker/Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and automated testing.
• Experience with performance optimization and production troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous programming.
