About
Embedded Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience developing production C firmware for resource-constrained, microcontroller-based automotive ECUs. Strong in AUTOSAR Classic BSW/MCAL configuration and integration (COM, DIAG, memory services), low-level driver development (CAN, SPI, ADC, PWM, UART, I2C, GPIO, watchdog), CAN/UDS (ISO 14229) diagnostics and MISRA-C compliant coding. Experienced in integrating third-party software (Vector, ETAS, MCAL vendor stacks) with application software, and in hardware/system debugging with JTAG, oscilloscope and Picoscope.
Hands-on across the full software life cycle (requirements, design, coding, integration, validation, release) on EV, Diesel, Gasoline and CNG platforms under ASPICE and ISO 26262 processes.
Experience
Software Engineer II - ALTEN (Client: Stellantis USA) - Bengaluru, India
(2025-02)
Project: VDYN_HIL-BSM ECU Platform (EV Vehicle Dynamics and Diagnostics)
- Participated in the end-to-end software life cycle (requirement analysis, specification, test design, execution, defect closure, release) for EV Vehicle Dynamics functions (ABS, ESC, Traction Control, Brake Controls) on a microcontroller-based BSM ECU.
- Designed, reviewed and executed HIL test cases using dSPACE ControlDesk, ETAS INCA, CDA and VST, with hardware-level debugging using JTAG, oscilloscope and other instruments.
- Performed J1979-2 OBD/UDS diagnostics validation, including DTC verification and diagnostic communication testing over CAN/CAN FD.
- Created and reviewed Component Functional Technical Specifications (CFTS) for EVCU2 propulsion functions and verified ASIL classifications for ISO 26262 compliance; clarified requirements with system, calibration and software stakeholders.
- Developed Diagnostic Lists (Diaglists) and verified diagnostic signal mappings via DBC files across hardware abstraction and communication layers.
- Developed automated test scripts (VectorCAST, ECU-Test, Python) from LLD/HLD requirements and built Jenkins/GitLab CI/CD pipelines, reducing manual regression effort.
- Triaged and root-caused system-level test failures with software, system and calibration teams, driving issues to closure within committed timelines and quality gates.
- Used Git for versioning, baselining and release packaging; maintained traceability and defect lifecycle in IBM DOORS, Polarion ALM and JIRA under ASPICE-compliant processes.
- Mentored junior engineers on VectorCAST/ECU-Test scripting, coverage analysis and testing workflows.
Software Engineer - Capgemini (Client: Bosch Global Software Technologies) - Bengaluru, India
(2021-11 - 2025-02)
Project: Mahindra Gasoline TGDI G12 BS6.2 (Gasoline/CNG ECU)
- Developed embedded software in C/C++ for a resource-constrained automotive microcontroller; built AUTOSAR software components with MATLAB and ETAS ISOLAR and integrated application software, basic software and hardware abstraction layers.
- Developed and validated AUTOSAR MCAL drivers (CAN, SPI, ADC); configured the AUTOSAR CAN communication stack (COM, DBC integration) and UDS diagnostics (DIAG) for reliable inter-ECU data exchange.
- Developed low-level device drivers for UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, PWM, ADC and watchdog peripherals; configured Flash/EEPROM memory management and supported flash bootloader (FBL) based software download and flashing.
- Integrated and configured third-party and vendor-supplied basic software and MCAL components with application software, resolving integration, build and flashing issues across multiple build environments.
- Developed and validated FreeRTOS applications covering task scheduling, inter-task communication (queues, semaphores, mutexes) and real-time performance optimization.
- Configured Diagnostic Identifiers (DIDs) per UDS (ISO 14229) and ensured reliable CAN frame transmission using Rolling Counter and CRC mechanisms.
- Debugged and validated ECUs in HIL environments using Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, and used JTAG and oscilloscope for hardware debugging; optimized code for low power consumption and runtime efficiency.
- Applied MISRA-C rules through static analysis and code reviews; achieved 100% unit test coverage and static code verification before release; managed builds, Git-based baselining and release documentation within committed timelines.
Software Engineer - Capgemini (Client: Bosch Global Software Technologies) - Bengaluru, India
(2021-11 - 2025-02)
Project: Mahindra Electric Light Commercial Vehicle (eLCV)
- Developed and integrated EV ECU software modules in Embedded C, configuring and validating I/O pins (ADC, DIO, PWM) for correct hardware-software interaction on the target microcontroller.
- Modernized legacy codebases to current development standards, improving maintainability and performance.
- Performed source-level debugging via JTAG and resolved build, flashing and integration issues across multiple build environments (BCT, mdgb); applied system-level debugging to isolate hardware, driver and application faults.
- Developed Python-based automation frameworks for firmware validation, regression testing and log analysis.
- Led requirement engineering (elicitation, analysis, traceability) for the CNG ECU platform, achieving zero traceability gaps at ASPICE assessment; created and maintained component technical specifications.
- Developed AUTOSAR application software using MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design and code generation; collaborated with hardware teams on ECU bring-up and debugging.
- Managed the software release process and Jenkins CI pipeline verification using Git for versioning and release packaging.
