About

Senior C++ engineer with 25+ years across medical imaging, broadcast video, robotics, gaming, telecom and investment-banking systems. Strong on modern C++ (up to C++17/20) on Linux and Windows, distributed and async network programming (Boost ASIO, ACE, native async, CORBA), GPU compute (CUDA, HLSL) and Qt UI development. Working knowledge across the ML/data stack — PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, Apache Spark, Kafka. Some hands-on Vulkan/OpenGL; basic working knowledge of Unreal Engine 4.

Experience

Senior C++ Engineer (3D) - ImmersiveLabz - Pune

(2026-03)

Senior developer on DicomView, a professional Windows DICOM viewer (Qt 6.10, VTK 9.6, GDCM, ITK, C++17, MSVC 2022). As sole engineer on the product, used an AI-augmented engineering workflow to deliver scope typically requiring a small team — multi-subsystem MPR / volume rendering / segmentation viewer, AI plugin framework, full build-and-deploy pipeline, 985-test regression suite — while holding production quality through TDD and code-review gates.

  • Built a multi-planar reconstruction viewer with a synced 4-panel layout, oblique reformats, volume rendering with multiple transfer-function presets, 2D/3D segmentation editor, measurement tools, and crosshair / reference-line sync across panels.
  • Refactored the codebase to a Mediator + Observer architecture: single source of truth for slice state, weak-reference observers, and a thin facade over focused subsystem managers. 985+ tests stayed green throughout the refactor.
  • Built an AI segmentation plugin framework (out-of-process, integrated TotalSegmentator, ONNX path planned) and a CLI launcher with automated screenshot capture for the user manual.
  • Owned full build and deployment: CMake with auto-generated version header from a single source file plus git metadata, batch-driven pipeline, and a self-contained zipped Windows distribution bundling Qt/VTK/GDCM runtimes.
  • Introduced an AI-augmented engineering workflow: codified project context, persistent design memory, incident-driven rules, and TDD plus code-review gates that keep AI-generated C++ at production quality.

Software Engineer (C++) - Evertz - Canada

(2025-04 - 2026-03)

Worked on OBD, the editor front-end for linear playout streams in Evertz's commercial broadcasting platform StreamPro — text and 2D/3D animation for live channel playout.

Software Engineer (C++) - Svaya Robotics

(2025-01 - 2025-04)

  • Migrated a Python robot-control API to C++ using C++20 coroutines and Boost ASIO — exposing the robot's WebSocket interface as a two-way bridge to ROS2.
  • Implemented a Modbus ↔ ROS2 two-way bridge from scratch, multi-threaded over Boost ASIO. Comfortable writing native async I/O where Boost is not preferred.
  • Worked on EthernetIP ↔ ROS2 integration.
  • Cleaned up existing code: removed unnecessary allocations, replaced raw pointers with appropriate STL containers and smart pointers.

Software Engineer (C++) - Gaming Studio - Sydney

(2020-11 - 2024-08)

Worked on a gaming server engine and toolset used to build multiplayer online games (MMO) and virtual worlds. Built in-house Qt-based UI tools for game developers.

  • DirectX 11 and CUDA work on NVIDIA hardware — added HLSL shaders to augment render buffers with segmentation IDs and capture frames for downstream processing.
  • Built engine-side features feeding reinforcement-learning data pipelines: per-pixel segmentation, vehicle path tracking, feature extraction.
  • Contributed to porting the engine's Python wrapper API to modern C++ via pybind11.
  • Reinforcement-learning experiments for vehicle navigation. Working knowledge of Unreal Engine.

Solution Engineer (C++) - Ingenico - Sydney

(2020-05 - 2020-11)

  • Ported Ingenico applications from Telium 2 OS to Telium Tetra (Linux/ARM) for clients including 7-Eleven and ANZ.
  • Developed the fuel application and an acquirer module for 7-Eleven, plus shell components.
  • Debugged ISO 8583 and AS2805 protocols on terminals. Some Oracle PL/SQL and VBA migration work.

Big Data / Machine Learning Engineer - BHP - Perth

(2018-03 - 2020-05)

Monitored IoT devices, harvesters, RFS and LTE devices across mining operations.

  • Ingested and transformed large-scale sensor JSON data; stream processing in Apache NiFi pushing time-series metrics into OpenTSDB.
  • Object detection (YOLO) on cameras monitoring mine sites.
  • Built idempotent Kafka consumer sinks in Java; MQTT–Kafka and Web API–Kafka integrations.
  • Time-series forecasting for trailer batteries: ARIMA + Kalman filter combined with RNN / LSTM / GRU.
  • Semantic segmentation (UNet) for drivable-area labelling using GPS-tagged camera data.
  • Descriptive analytics dashboards in Grafana; ad-hoc reporting in PySpark. POC: AWS Kinesis with MQTT integration.

Software Engineer - IBM Security Division Development Labs - Australia

(2010 - 2016)

2012–2015 — C++ encoder/decoder for the IPFIX protocol (UDP) integrating with QRadar SIEM, with shared-memory real-time flow capture. Built C++ packet capture for the IBM XGS Next-Gen IPS appliance and its CLI; contributed to IBM Proventia Server (Host Intrusion Prevention). 2011–2012 — C++ sensors (OS audit, licensing module) for IBM Proventia Server. 2010–2011 — Ported VMware ESX C++ code to IBM AIX Power virtual machines.

Across the role: designed and built automated test infrastructure using QEMU virtualisation plus Android/iOS emulators (Appium, Selenium WebDriver, REST APIs) in Java and Python on Eclipse / Rational Team Concert / Rational Functional Tester.

Software Engineer (C++) - Xalted

(2007-01 - 2010)

Worked on Xalted's mediation and billing products (Intertrace, Fraud Trace), enhancing the in-house C++ framework Modula (built on shared memory, mmap, message queues and other IPCs).

Replaced

Tuxedo middleware with an ACE + Boost + CORBA stack, and migrated database access from Pro*C/C++ to OTL — significantly reducing licensing cost. Maintained a billing system for one of the largest US telcos: code-level debugging, reverse-engineering legacy components, and supporting production issues from code through to Unix scripts and Sybase. Worked with IBM, Sun and HP partner labs to benchmark Xalted products on new hardware and software (clustering, OS containers, compiler features).

Lead C++ Engineer - Webodrome / AriseTech

(2004-11 - 2007-01)

Led a team of 5 engineers; ran internal training.

  • Architected an Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) system as standalone CORBA services for a CC-CTI platform.
  • IBM WebSphere MQ integration via both plain C++ (mqsc) and ActiveX (MQAX); MSMQ and XML integration for the EdiSphere flagship product.
  • Architected a streaming server and protocol; implemented a TCP/IP async-I/O emulator on Linux in ACE C++ to drive 10K+ simultaneous client connections in test.
