My name is Bhargavi Vivekanandan, and I am a Carnatic vocalist and music educator with over 14 years of formal training in Indian classical music. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Indian Music from Queen Mary's College, University of Madras, where I was awarded the Gold Medal, and I have also completed my Master's degree in Music from Annamalai University.
Over the years, I have taught students of different age groups and skill levels, helping them develop a strong foundation in Carnatic music. My teaching approach emphasizes not only technical excellence but also musical awareness, expression (bhava), and a deep understanding of the purpose behind the music. I believe that music education should inspire discipline, creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for our cultural heritage.
As an educator, I strive to create a positive and engaging learning environment where every student feels encouraged to learn at their own pace while maintaining high artistic standards. I am passionate about nurturing young minds through music and contributing meaningfully to an institution that values both excellence and holistic development.
I have several years of experience as a Carnatic music educator, teaching students across different age groups, from beginners to advanced learners. During my teaching career, I have worked as a faculty member at Sri Sathya Sai Sangeetha Vidyalaya and Bridge Academy of Fine Arts, where I taught Carnatic vocal music, devotional music, bhajans, and prepared students for stage performances and examinations.
My teaching methodology focuses on building a strong foundation in shruti, laya, raga, tala, diction, and bhava, while ensuring that students understand the meaning and purpose behind every composition. I believe that every student learns differently, so I customize my lessons according to their age, learning pace, and individual goals.
In addition to regular classes, I have organized workshops, trained students for cultural programs and competitions, and guided them to perform confidently on stage. These experiences have strengthened my communication skills, classroom management, patience, and ability to motivate students.
As a music educator, my aim is not only to teach songs but to nurture disciplined, confident, and musically aware students who develop a lifelong appreciation for Indian classical music.
