• Identifying the Hazards and risks involved in the process through Preliminary desktop screening & Process risk assessment (PRA) by following risk-based process safety approach & providing appropriate controls (Following LOPA system) at production & processing areas.
• Compilation of Product Wise Process safety data required for PRA – Physical & chemical properties, Toxicity information, Fire & explosion properties, stability & reactivity hazards (From MSDS/Bretherick’s hand book) & Chemical Hazard Assessment report data (RC1e, DSC, Carius tube apparatus, ARC).
• Basic knowledge on Assessment of graphs and data generated from RC1e (desired reactions) & DSC, Carius tube apparatus, ARC experiments (Undesired reactions) and defining the classification of stossels Criticality class.
• Review of P&ID/ PFD (Checking the Compatibility using CRW4 Software and Equipment Information) and review of block flow diagram/Batch process with reference to CHAR data.
• Evaluating & managing process safety risk assessment studies (PRA) of defined products
• Providing Interlocks to process equipment’s based on criticality in the process (BPCS, SIS interlocks).
• Managing the critical chemical reactions by performing detailed risk assessments to ensure the safety.
• Conducting PSSR (Pre/Post-Startup Safety Review) from the outcomes of PRA actions & implementation of those key actions in field with 100% compliance before the batch startup.
• Evaluating controls based on hierarchy, for handling chemicals in different ways (i.e. Transferring, unloading, Cleaning & Maintenance activities) is done through Chemical Risk Assessment (CRA)/Containment strategy.
• Calculating Orifice size for controlled addition of raw materials (Exothermic reactions)
• Conducting Process Safety Training Programs (Induction, product specific & Shop Floor trainings)
• Review on Management of change through Smartent software (Changes related to process equipment, batch process & operating parameters).
• Basic knowledge on distributed control system (DCS) operations – ABB Software.
• Put in order (Monthly HSE Report, Safety Display boards, PPE matrix, Product Training Pack, Basis of safety).
• Conduct Incident investigation occurred in plant & process operations using (Basic/detailed 5Why principle) & implementing recommendations from “CAPA “
• Basic Knowledge on work permit system.
• Engaging in pre/post customer EHS audit activities involves “tracking compliance points and maintaining an audit trail for documentation purposes.”
• Scheduling internal inspections quarterly and tracking the observations in SmartTrack.
