To introduce myself, I’m immediate Fmr. Director and Founder Principal & Professor of Nitte School of Architecture & Planning, Bengaluru & Founding Principal of Thakur School of Architecture & Planning. I exited the above institute in early Feb, 2022 as my agreement with my management was completed, and I had few professional and research projects to handle which were near completion, as Director Archimedia.
Currently I am looking forward to Higher/Bigger Roles & Responsibilities. I am instrumental in starting from ab-initio two of the institutes (Nitte School of Architecture Planning and Design, Bengaluru; and Thakur School of Architecture and Planning, Mumbai; wherein I served as Director and Founder Principal handling 360° the overall all the responsibilities as Head of Institution (Details as in CV). In addition, I have been Principal @ Aakar Academy of Architecture and HOD (Academics) at BMSSA.
I possess @10 years of Professorship experience and total of 24 years of Teaching and 10 years of Practical Professional experience to compliment with totaling to 34 years of post qualification experience.
Both as a Teacher and Leader I have undertaken many initiatives including setting up / Constituting CEGR Nodal Centre for Karnataka Council of CEGR, Research and Development Centre, Collaborative incubation cell, Institute Innovation Cell through Ministry of Education, Design Cell, Technical Open Hub for extensive provision of multi[1]disciplinary exchange and open electives within the Nitte Campus, Started Bachelor of Planning Program first time ever in Karnataka and in VTU, Started and Bachelor of Architecture Program at NSAPD, Undertook through AICTEISTE funding initiated Skill Mapping Development and Orientation Cell, Hobby Workshop, Secured MSME funded- PMAC Business incubation cell, setup Architectural Research Cell approved by VTU @NSAPD.
Industry academia interfacing, academia to academia interfacing, availing funded projects from various bodies such as VGST and ISTE, 3 tier Proctorial & Mentoring system, Connected to K12 schools – regulatory and statutory bodies-AICTE-ITPI-CoA-VTU to streamline the academic curriculum had helps vertical and horizontal integration and supports the New NEP 2020 initiatives of Government of India. Initiated on Architectural Journals for students and Faculties, Conducted Workshops on IPR and Research in areas such as Neuro, Energy, Nano labs etc, in collaboration with LBNL Lab UC Berkley, IISC, NMIT etc., , and many such initiatives which is way forward for Futuristic Architecture. At the time of exiting workshops on AI and Building Design was organized and experts were identified to conduct the workshop and Implementation of New NEP 2020.
These are few top down nut-shell initiatives among numerous other initiatives: some are core academics by way of handling subjects such as History & Theory of Architecture, Building Services, Building Construction, Project Management, Working Drawing, Measured Drawing, Contemporary Architecture etc., for students of Bachelor of Architecture, and Housing & Conservation for Bachelor of Planning Students. Due to my initiatives NSAPD was shortlisted among top 64 colleges in India for Viswakarma Award from AICTE/MoE a revenue generation scheme for the society/household through Institution participation.
Other academic initiatives includes (1) re-structuring the teaching learning process in Design, Architectural Construction, Acoustics, Illumination, working drawing, Contemporary, History and Theory of Architecture. (2) Equipping the institution for accreditation and certification by NAAC, NBA, QS-IGauge, IGBC, ISTE, GEM Assocham, and architects CIAT (3) affiliation to IIA & VTU and approval by AICTE, ITPI, CoA and Govt. of Karnataka, Govt. of Maharashtra; and requirements of many other statutory and regulatory bodies. (4) Besides academics, I have worked in multiple stream of professions that collaborate & integrate horizontally/vertically at the periphery of various fraternities to Architecture such as Quality, Multimedia Development, Software, 6 Sigma, Supply chain, Operations, Logistics, Project Construction & Value Management, Films & Movies for historic backdrop of society and study of “earlier historic times, the buildings, structures and culture”….and many such.
My conviction has been that the requirements of Management, Institute, Faculty, students, community and rest of stakeholders must be balanced with equanimity, so as to ensure that everyone is able to maximize the benefits of the institution development and growth with an aligned VISION to a COMMON GOAL.
………This requires Development of Discipline, Academic, and Attitude; Student & Personnel development, besides meeting other university requirements. I look forward to academic freedom and open mindedness in promoting new research initiatives that are essential for international presence of our institution In 2012, I have been conferred the “Best Teacher and Academician Award” PAN India by A3 Foundations that promotes Art, Aesthetics and Architecture and many PAN India national awards such as Visional Leader, Inspirational Leader, Best Administrator etc.,. Wherein, I’m awarded by Chancellor of University, Veteran Top ministers, Emeritus Professors, Educational Stalwarts, and Very Senior Administrators of the Universities/Institutions both in current and previous governments.
That apart, I have received many "Best Paper Award" at international conferences abroad; have "Published" over @50+ papers in international and national “conference proceedings and journals" together. Have been a "reviewer" too of papers for publishing; and in the "Advisory Board" of many international journals; "organized international and national conferences"; funded workshops, symposiums, seminars, guest lecturers; have been "author and editor of conference proceedings"; been conference and session chairs both within and outside India in various international conferences; and as member of the Advisory board of few international journals.
Some of my achievements are detailed in the CV attached herein. My track record indicates my leadership initiatives, capability in achieving the set targets, Productivity Progress Performance Integrity & Ethics are few that define me.
Focused time-bound achievements of intended output, Research and Innovative “Out of Box - lateral thinking” processing ability, Project and Academic excellence in knowledge possession and delivery, and possess ability to undertake and handle the calculated risks.
