I am Dr. Deepa Karunanithi, a passionate researcher with over two years of hands-on experience in material synthesis, downstream processing, and electrochemistry. My research primarily focuses on the development of advanced polymer membranes for fuel cell applications, biomass separation, and desalination processes.
I earned my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, where my doctoral work involved synthesizing nanoparticles and copolymers to fabricate high-performance membranes with tunable pore structures and enhanced antifouling properties. These innovations demonstrated superior separation efficiency and fuel cell performance compared to commercial alternatives.
Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have published six international Q1 and Q2 journal papers, presented at 13 international and national conferences, and collaborated with interdisciplinary research teams. My expertise spans membrane fabrication, material characterization (FTIR, XRD, TGA, AFM), and analytical interpretation.
Driven by curiosity and collaboration, I am deeply committed to advancing sustainable materials and energy technologies, bridging scientific innovation with practical applications in the R&D and environmental engineering sectors.
I have 2.3 years working experience in synthesis of proton exchange membrane and nanocomposite membrane. I mainly focus on (1) Synthesis of ion exchange membrane using nanoparticle, copolymer, nanocomposite material as an additive material. (2) Knowledge and hands-on experience with membrane fabrication, synthesis of nanocomposite and lab equipment. (3) characterized in-situ structural and functional characterization techniques for functional membrane using advanced diagnostics. (4) Prepared scientific technical reports, presentations, and documentation of research findings. (5) Work collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams. (6) Responsible for upgrading the lab and procurement of equipment’s and chemical. (7) Interpretation knowledge on contact angle analysis, UV spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, thermogravimetric analysis, atomic force microscopy, and biochemical tests
