Deepika Mandakala

I am Mandakala Sai Deepika, a final-year B.Tech student in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Vignan's Institute of Information Technology (VIIT), Visakhapatnam. I am passionate about Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, and Generative AI. I have research experience through internships at IIIT Hyderabad and Semantic Climate (NIPGR & University of Cambridge), where I worked on self-supervised learning, LLM-based RAG systems, and AI research projects.

I enjoy building AI solutions that solve real-world problems and have developed projects in healthcare, geospatial AI, and NLP using Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, FastAPI, Docker, and AWS. I am a quick learner, enjoy collaborating in teams, and am eager to contribute to innovative AI products while continuously expanding my technical expertise

Research ML Intern at IIIT-Hyderabad (2026-01 – Present)

• Implemented SimCLR (self-supervised contrastive learning) using the official Google Research repository on CIFAR-10 and ImageNet-scale histopathology datasets for label-efficient cancer detection.
• Benchmarked model performance across supervised vs. self-supervised settings; reviewed 10+ peer-reviewed papers in medical imaging and deep learning to guide experimental design.

Data Science Intern at Semantic Climate (NIPGR & University of Cambridge) (2025-05 – 2025-08)

• Ran pygetpapers to retrieve and process 50+ papers (OpenAlex API); tested llmrag with 5+ query types on IPCC AR6 WG1 Chapter 4 via Streamlit UI, reporting retrieval issues to mentors.
• Created keyword wordlist and domain dictionary for WG1/Ch4; debugged amilib, pygetpapers, and llmrag; authored FAQ documentation for FSCI 2025 event.
