Gaikhangduanliu Kamei

I am a postgraduate in Gender Studies with a background in Sociology, with interests in gender, labour, and digital cultures. My work engages with questions of representation, inequality, and the politics of everyday life, with a focus on visual culture and media. I have experience in research, policy writing, and interdisciplinary analysis.

I have gained experience in policy research and analysis through internships across public and independent research institutions. During my work with public sector enterprises, I contributed to drafting sections of the Public Enterprises Survey and analysed trends in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, developing an understanding of governance and institutional policy frameworks. As a Research and Policy Intern at Adhyayan Foundation for Policy and Research, I authored articles on themes such as gender justice and healthcare inequality, while also producing accessible research-based content for digital platforms.

Additionally, my experience at IMPRI (Impact and Policy Research Institute) involved conducting literature reviews, drafting policy-oriented writing, and maintaining research documentation, further strengthening my skills in interdisciplinary research, critical analysis, and policy communication.

I hold a postgraduate degree in Gender Studies, with a prior academic foundation in Sociology (Honours), where my training has been interdisciplinary and rooted in the study of gender, labour, and social inequality. My academic work includes research-based publications on themes such as gender justice and the urban–rural divide in healthcare access, reflecting my engagement with policy-oriented writing and critical analysis. My dissertation, which examined the relationship between clothing, drapery, and the gendered body in visual culture, explored how representation, class, and materiality shape the politics of femininity across historical and artistic contexts.

Through my academic journey, I have developed strong skills in qualitative research, theoretical inquiry, and analytical writing.
