JULY 1995: Position: Senior project engineer Instruments
Project: Ethylene project - Gandhar task force
Worked as lead Senior Engineer for Ethylene project Instrumentation. Reviewed the technological transfer documents of licenser M/s Stone & Webster -Instrumentation volumes. Reviewed and helped EIL in preparation of P & ID’s of plant. Reviewed the material requisitions prepared by EIL for various instrumentation items. Carried out the detailed DCS & PLC evaluation. Undergoing various MR-Review, Technical Evaluation and Procurement activities.
Phase-I: Gandhar Petrochemicals complex.
Also, worked in Phase-I plants for various procurements, detailed engineering of OSBL Plant, Jetty and Bulk procurement. Worked during erection and commissioning of VCM plant having TDC- 3000 DCS System.
Phase-II:
(1) Technical evaluation:
Reviewed and commented all the material requisitions of EIL. Evaluated various offers of vendors and various other related activities.
(2) Procurement:
At IPCL end carried out all the purchase activities. These activities include technical commenting on MR, evaluation technical offers of vendors, preparing technical queries to be taken up with vendors & EIL. All of the above-mentioned activities were handled single handedly composing of altogether 25 different cases of Ethylene project - Instrumentation.
(3) Detailed engineering:
Technical meetings / DCS / PLC engineering / drawings review: Participated in various technical meetings with vendors and consultant M/s EIL New Delhi. Carried out detailed engineering work of DCS package. Review of Software design manual, hardware design manual, General assembly drawings of various panels, interfacing with DCS. Carried out detailed engineering of complete analyzer ABB package comprising of 56 different Gas chromatographs.
(4) Inspection / factory acceptance tests:
Ethylene project - FAT - Yokogawa DCS / August PLC & other Instruments. Lead responsible engineer for Factory acceptance test of ethylene plant DCS with 120 panels @ 5500 tags for control shutdown system. Checking & Inspection for various bought out items, various interfaces, hardware & software tests were carried out for the entire system.
(5) Site activities / field instrumentation / DCS installation and loop checking / package vendor panels:
Field instrumentation progress achieved @ 100% by overall coordinating as lead senior engineer. Handled various site contractors, coordinating with EIL site engineers overcoming various site problems, installation finalization, modification in installations, implementing various changes as per new requirement / operating philosophy / package vendor requirement etc. DCS installations, power on and system completion is achieved.
(6) Milestones:
All of above milestones were achieved without any short fall of any bulk material, instruments, instruments piping, lack of any engineering input etc.
DECEMBER 1998: Position: Deputy Project manager instrumentation
Holding responsibility of entire instrument related activities of Gas Cracker Project including field instrumentation, DCS hardware system, software, package interface package unit installation and commissioning. Responsibility shall include other plants instrumentation of OSBL- ethylene storage, C2C3 plant, pipelines for feedstock etc. which are forming part of Gas Cracker unit. I have got rich experience of Ethylene Plant from conceptual stage to commissioning and have come across various startups & commissioning related problems, their solutions which lead to successful commissioning of Ethylene Plant.
