Ever heard a story of a genie and three wishes? Well, I did meet my genie way back when I started my career journey, and my third wish was "KEEP LEARNING UNTIL I BREATHE".
So here is my attempt to summarize my career/education journey in a few words (essay alert). I started as an Internal Auditor in an IT firm post-MBA and realized I had a calling for technical documentation. With some background in product documentation in my previous company, I got an offer of leading a team of technical writers at SeeBeyond Technologies (later acquired by Sun Microsystem).
There was so much learning and way too many AHA moments which got me hooked on the field of technical documentation.
I worked in different domains in each role exploring many facets of project/people management. In each role, I upskilled in Content Solutions, Information development, and Content management system by using diverse tools and technologies, including but not limited to DITA XML, Framemaker, Epic editor, Robohelp, Eclipse, and so on.
I have around 5+ years of rich experience in graphics designing on tools such as Catia, Parametric Creo, Windchill, CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, and Figma.
In 2022, I successfully published a disclosure related to the text layers in graphics. Apart from this, I have expert-level skills in creating and editing videos using tools such as Camtasia.
In my current role, I am a technical editor for the Power Systems team, handling software and hardware documentation. In this role, I am responsible for editing technical content and ensuring that it adheres to IBM standards. I lead a team of Technical writers and perform editorial activities, onboarding new writers and providing quality content that is published.
I possess strong business and technical skills, exceptional organizational and project management ability, fast learning of new technology, innovation-centric, efficient trainer, amiable, and work well in a team and independent environments.
Lastly, I have been instrumental in starting a Twitter initiative for my team to promote IBM product documentation by using the #IBMPowerDocs hashtag. You can check my Twitter handle: @SocialKiran
