My research interests lie in soil biogeochemistry and agroecosystem sustainability, with a focus on understanding how agricultural management practices regulate soil carbon and nitrogen cycling through their influence on soil physical structure, nutrient dynamics, and microbial communities. I am particularly interested in crop rotation systems and how they modify soil health across depth profiles, affecting the stabilization and turnover of organic matter.
Master's Thesis (Ongoing) - Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata - Kolkata
(2025-06)
Title: Assessing Soil Health under Crop Rotation using Physical, Chemical, and Biological Indicators This research focuses on evaluating the impact of crop rotation on soil health through a comprehensive study of physical, chemical, and biological parameters. Soil samples are collected up to 50 cm depth at 10 cm intervals to understand vertical variations in soil properties and microbial activity. The work integrates analyses of:
Summer Research Intern - Centre of Excellence in Climate Modelling, IIT Delhi - Delhi
(2023-05 - 2023-07)
During my summer internship, I tackled the inconsistency in views on Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) rainfall trends. My role included extensive literature reviews, data analysis, and synthesizing information to understand the complexities influencing ISM patterns. I contributed to reconciling conflicting findings and evaluating the impact of climate change through ISM.
Actively engaging in discussions on the societal relevance of accurate climate information, I highlighted the limitations of current models. This experience enhanced my research, data analysis, and critical evaluation skills, emphasizing the importance of precise regional climate data for informed decision-making.
Sedimentology Fieldwork, Mohand Section, Uttarakhand - IISER Kolkata - Uttarakhand
(2023-12 - 2023-12)
In the Mohand region of the Uttarakhand Shivaliks, namely in the Doon Valley, I had the chance to investigate and learn about geology during an educational field trip of five days. The primary focus of the trip was to gain hands-on experience in analyzing various aspects of the geological landscape.
Structural Geology Fieldwork in Galudih, Jharkhand - IISER Kolkata - Jharkhand
(2024-12 - 2024-12)
Conducted a structural mapping study in the Chorinda region, focusing on fracture characterization and its interaction with folding. Analyzed fracture sets based on angularity with respect to bedding and hinge surfaces and examined spatial variations across the fold.
Compass, stereonets, and fold tests to investigate folding mechanisms, including buckling, bending, and flexural shear. The study provided insights into fracture intensity variations and their role in deformation processes, enhancing expertise in geological mapping and structural analysis.
