Piper Serica is an AMC managing around INR 1000 Crs in long-only public and private market funds. We have a PMS, an FPI Advisory, Smallcase portfolios and an AIF CAT I for early stage investments. I work as a sector-agnostic analyst with the public markets team.
Primarily, my role involves idea generation, tracking portfolio companies, and asset allocation suggestions. In addition to this, I am also responsible for some PR activities, timely preparation of investor presentations, factsheets, etc., working with the sales team to explain the products to potential investors, managing investor queries that are escalated to me.
- The fund added my recommendation - Sharda Cropchem Ltd. within a month of me joining. Added the stock at an average of 500 which ran up to an ATH of 880 within 5 months of us buying. Though the seniors were tempted to sell the stock, I resisted as it is a much larger story than that.
- Recommended increasing the cash allocation in July 2024 citing the overvaluation bubble being susceptible to even a minor trigger.
- Resisted against buying a few stocks which proved fruitful as in the later months, their CG issues came out in public.
- Meeting with company managements, going on plant visits, attending investor conferences, maintaining a strong network of peer investors and analysts.
- Tracking portfolio companies ranging in all sectors like Insurance, Banking, Pharma, Building Materials, Agrochemicals, Financial Services.
- Writing investment notes, result updates, and conducting quarterly investor calls with seniors.

- Analyzed the likes of Astral, Finolex Industries, Prakash Pipes, Supreme Industries, etc.
- Prakash Pipes is one of my earliest ideas in the industry. The stock was available for a dirt-cheap valuation and ran up from 150 to 640 in 2 years.
- Being sector-agnostic, I'd covered many different companies like HEG, Graphite India, Ducol Organics, AGI Greenpac, Cosmo Ferrites, Foods & Inns, Hi-Tech Pipes, Hariom Pipe Industries and many more.
