- Weather Monitoring & Forecasting: Supervise and maintain Agro-Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), analyze district/block-level rainfall, and interpret IMD's Extended Range (ERF) and Long Range Forecasts (LRF) for agricultural planning. Record extreme weather events and verify forecast accuracy against IMD observations.
- Advisory Preparation & Dissemination: Convene bi-weekly Expert Panel meetings to formulate block-specific advisory services covering crops, horticulture, livestock, poultry, and fisheries using Agromet-DSS. Disseminate alerts via the mKisan portal, mobile apps, social media, and local networks.
- Risk Mitigation & R&D: Develop crop-weather calendars to automate advisories and execute weather-based contingency plans. Conduct climate risk mapping and evaluate DSSAT crop simulation models to analyze wheat and cotton growth parameters under changing thermal environments.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Outreach: Act as the primary liaison between the IMD, Agromet field Units (AMFU), KVKs, and local agricultural departments. Maintain village-wise farmer databases, collect grassroots feedback, and compile success stories.
- Capacity Building & Administration: Organize Farmer Awareness Programmes (FAPs), manage Annual Progress Reports (APR), and update GKMS monitoring dashboards. Maintain comprehensive agrometeorological databases and submit technical reports for institutional evaluation.
