Senior Engineer - Design & Development (Engineering) at Lucas-TVS Ltd (2010-09 – Present)
Responsible for conceptualizing new designs and revisions by means of producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for the projects undertaken. Management of all Design activities including Request for Quotations (RFQs), Design freeze / release, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Design Verification/Product Validation (DV & PV) testing and Computer-aided engineering (CAE).

- Responsible for the management of all Design activities including Request for Quotations (RFQs), Design freeze / release, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Design Verification/Product Validation (DV & PV) testing and Computer-aided engineering (CAE).
- Lead the team to create a range of 2D & 3D models for a number of proposal/production and development systems, products, and components using CAD.
- Present design, costs, changes and budgetary information effectively to senior management and customers and provide regular progress updates.
- Liaise closely with all departments to fully understand design requirements.
- Drive forward product development through innovation and think outside the box to generate engineering advantage for customers, thinking creatively to develop new/improved solutions.
- Deal with parts suppliers for initial feasibility studies during supplier finalization, involving Purchasing where necessary.
- Responsible for Proto Parts development, Assembly & Testing/Reporting to meet customer time line for getting initial fitment and performance approval.
- Involving design of Assembly Tools & Fixtures for proto development where necessary.
- Identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, design for manufacture).
- Bench marking with other Global manufacturers samples (Denso,Remy, Bosch, Valeo, etc.)
- Liaise closely communication with customers and suppliers.
Designer, Deputed to Lucas-TVS Ltd (R&D) at Protec Engineering service (2008-07 – 2010-08)
- Interpretation of Customer Specifications, RFQ's and develops new concepts Alternators.
- Creating new layout design based on the Customer Input and analytical design. (Using Pro. Engineer & Auto CAD)
- 3D Modeling (parametric) of Alternator Assembly, Mounting Brackets, Regulator molding rectifier & rear cover etc. components using Creo 9.0 and Detailing the same using Pro Engineer & Auto CAD with proper material selection and GD&T.
- Design Checking of 3D Models and verifying 2D Drawings and its Critical Dimensions, GD&T, Significant Characteristics, Manufacturing Test Specs before production release.
- PLM activities (Part No Creation, BOM Creation, SEN, ECN, DRN, DCN and Documentation)
- Involving Design Calculation for Pulley, Shafts, springs, Bearings etc.
- Designing of simple assembly press tools, sheet metal forming tools, punch & dies for proto sample development designing of test fixtures for proto sample testing.
- Continuous improvements in terms of cost & quality in existing products with through VA/VE.
