Scrutiny Operations is an important back-office banking function responsible for reviewing and validating customer documents, transactions, and account activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines (RBI, FATF, FIU-IND, AML/KYC norms). The main job of Scrutiny Operations is to check, verify, validate and approve banking documents or transactions before they move to the next stage. It ensures that no incomplete or incorrect documents are processed, regulatory compliance is maintained, risks such as fraud, AML risk, KYC gaps, or financial crime are prevented, and customer records are accurate and updated.

• KYC Document Review: Checking PAN, Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License, Address proof, Photo, etc.
• CDD/EDD Review: Conducting Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence for high-risk accounts
• Account Opening File Audit: Ensuring all required documents and signatures are compliant and complete before account activation
• Risk Categorisation: Assigning customer risk levels (Low/Medium/High) as per regulation
• AML Screening: Screening customers in watchlists (Sanction list, PEP list, Blacklists)
• Fraud Risk Detection: Identifying forged documents, mismatched signatures, suspicious activity
• Transaction Scrutiny: Reviewing high-value/flagged transactions for suspicious patterns
• Exception and Deficiency Correction: Identifying missing fields, signatures, unclear documents, expired IDs
