At CNMC, I had the opportunity of seeing clients from all age groups, whom I diagnosed with different disorders that come under neuroticism, psychoticism, or neurodevelopmental disorders. I applied my previously acquired practical knowledge of taking Case History Record and Mental Status Examination of clients, integrating it with the knowledge and intelligence of asking the right question to gain intricate details which would provide a complete picture of the phenomena of the disorder in the particular client. I also administered psychometric tests, which enhanced my understanding of the tests and it's relevance in diagnosing a particular disorder.
For some clients, I provided brief therapy sessions as well. Additionally, I learnt detailed clerical work, like making reports for each client, including medico-legal ones as per The Gazette of India: Extraordinary, and working under pressure of balancing academics and internship for these three months. However, interning at CNMC provided me with rich experiences of working with clients and advanced my clinical understanding.
Intern - Mavie Care - Kolkata

At Mavie Care, I learned how to take CHR (Case History Report) and MHE (Mental Health Examination), I gained in-depth knowledge of Special Education, i.e., when do children need it and how to have individualized approach by setting goals for each child according to their individual needs (IEP). I also gained more insights through case experiences shared by a psychologist and learnt how to diagnose the problem accurately and counsel the client. Further, I learnt about the different psychometric tests and when to use them, about different situations and cases and how to diagnose the problem and how to decide whether medications are necessary or not and accordingly referring the client to any psychiatrist.
Although my case exposures were limited to children with neurological disorders, I had one opportunity to silently observe how to conduct the first session with an adult, what tests to use, and I co-conducted tests like Thematic Apperception Test, Beck's Depression Inventory-2, and Beck's Anxiety Inventory. This experience broadened my understanding of psychological assessments across different age groups.
