I am Saurabh Verma, an engineering leader at Groupon. Currently, I lead two teams within the organization. The first team, known as the Merchant Platform Team, is responsible for managing over 12 microservices that is source of merchant, locations, google places, menu. These services play a critical role in the purchase funnel and deal retrieval process on the Groupon platform. After a recent reorganization within Groupon, I successfully rebuilt and restructured the teams.
The second team focuses on developing the Merchant Mobile App. Our primary objective is to enhance self-service capabilities for merchants and prioritize app-first features. One notable accomplishment was the creation of a smart campaign creation tool that utilizes AI.
This tool provides an improved experience for merchants while also enhancing the quality of deals offered. By automating the deal definition process, we significantly reduced the time it takes for merchants to create and publish their deals, especially considering that most merchants are not professional content writers.
