Counseling and Biotechnology Research. Passionate and interested in exploring and learning more about other areas of clinical and medical genetics.
Provide pre and post-test genetic counseling to help patients understand the benefits / limitations of testing, test results and make informed medical decisions. Review medical records and interview patients to obtain comprehensive individual and family medical history.
● Write detailed consultation reports to provide information on complex genetic concepts for patients or referring physicians.
● Carry out risk assessment for future pregnancies and offer carrier testing options if and when required.
● Offer premarital/preconception genetic counseling to a couple beginning a family.
● Correlate, interpret and make genetic testing reports .
● Serve as a liaison between the patient, physician and sales to coordinate genetic testing, referrals and communicate the results of testing.
● Making presentations for sales training.
● Communicate and address Clinician queries regarding sample failure (CVS/Amniotic fluid/Blood) in coordination with molecular and cytogenetics lab.
● Communicate and discuss with clinicians regarding appropriate test with respect to clinical indications.
● Involvement in case discussion and research publications.
● Check and pass samples after evaluation of correct genetic test is requested.
