About

Supervisor: Professor Nilmoni Sarkar Title: Co-Assembly of Aspartame and Bile Salt and Its Effect on Lipid Membrane Investigated the self-assembly and co-assembly behavior of aspartame with bile salts (Sodium Cholate, Sodium Taurocholate, and Sodium Deoxycholate) and their interactions with phospholipid membranes.

Experience

Master's Thesis - Department of Chemistry, IIT Kharagpur - IIT Kharagpur

(2025-07 - 2026-04)

Supervisor: Professor Nilmoni Sarkar Title: Co-Assembly of Aspartame and Bile Salt and Its Effect on Lipid Membrane Investigated the self-assembly and co-assembly behavior of aspartame with bile salts (Sodium Cholate, Sodium Taurocholate, and Sodium Deoxycholate) and their interactions with phospholipid membranes.

  • Prepared and characterized lipid vesicles (DMPC) as model biological membranes using thin-film hydration and probe sonication techniques.
  • Performed fluorescence spectroscopy and time-resolved fluorescence studies to investigate membrane dynamics and microenvironmental changes using Coumarin-153 and DCM fluorescent probes.
  • Conducted Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM) to study changes in fluorescence lifetime and rigidity of molecular co-assemblies.
  • Utilized Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) for fluorescence lifetime and anisotropy measurements and analyzed decay profiles.
  • Characterized nanoscale morphology and fibril formation using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM).
  • Measured vesicle size distribution and colloidal stability using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS).
  • Analyzed experimental data to correlate molecular self-assembly with membrane interaction and fluorescence behavior.

Summer Internship - IIT Kharagpur - IIT Kharagpur

(2025-05 - 2025-07)

Title: Encapsulation Dynamics of Thioflavin T in Bile Salt (NaDC) Aggregates: A Spectroscopic Study. Supervisor: Professor Nilmoni Sarkar, IIT Kharagpur.

  • During this internship, I investigated the encapsulation dynamics of Thioflavin T (ThT) in Sodium Deoxycholate (NaDC) bile salt aggregates using spectroscopic techniques.
  • I also performed UV–Visible absorption and steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy to study the photophysical properties and binding behavior of ThT in bile salt aggregates.
  • Determined the partition coefficient (Kp) and Gibbs free energy (ΔG) of complex formation through spectroscopic data analysis.
  • Utilized femtosecond fluorescence upconversion spectroscopy to investigate ultrafast fluorescence dynamics and excited-state relaxation processes of ThT in self-assembled bile salt systems.
