First, I continued trying to understand the political, and cultural background of the communities I’m working with, and I learnt a lot about the community living conditions from every field mission I had. I maintained a close working relationship with my supervisors and tried to capture as much information and experience as I could from them.
As a part of our GBV activities, I worked on the sanitary kits distributions to the females in reproductive age living in camp and urban areas by cleaning beneficiaries lists, requesting from Logistics department, coordinating with distributing partners, and reporting to the coordination office in Erbil.
I worked in reviewing BIAs and received two trainings in best interest procedures, also I worked on referring, assessing and providing unaccompanied and separated children with protection cash assistance (under case management).
I managed to work under pressure to support the cash assistance intervention. I received and reviewed the cash assistance referrals and shared the information with the implementing partner on time. I am currently doing an English course offered through learn and connect platform, and I expect to acquire more written and verbal communication skills.
I used to be a very good team player and felt that the success of my colleagues was mine as well. In so doing, I provided support to other units, such as participating in thematic FGDs organized by the protection and field units. I supported my colleagues in the unit and provided all the support required of me.
Most importantly, I participated in many trainings alongside with my colleagues to build the capacity of partners, and COVs in GBV, CBI, and working with persons with specific needs . As part of strengthening the community-based approach, I held periodic meetings with the community volunteers and built their capacity through discussing various topics on issues affecting the community. Also, I have the ability to reach the POCs (especially females) in the high-risk areas. Finally, I was selected to attend the WEM training on April 2020, and now I am remotely supporting Afghanistan-Kabul operation as a part of ERT team.
My main objective is to provide additional support to the protection unit to effectively manage and address the queries that are being received, to ensure that UNHCR meets its obligations and responsibilities and avoids reputational risk to UNHCR.
