Network Development Engineer Intern - Amazon

Amazon internships are full‑time, onsite positions. Interns are expected to work Monday‑Friday up to 40 hours per week, typically between 8 am and 5 pm. Working hours may vary by team and will be communicated by your manager. Interns must not have conflicting class or employment commitments during the Amazon work day.

Applicants must have at least one quarter, semester, trimester, or equivalent remaining in their studies after the internship concludes. The position is applicable to all ASIC roles at any of the Amazon sites in the United States, including Greater Seattle Area, Greater Bay Area, Greater DMV, Austin, New York City, and Minneapolis. Preferences for location and start date are provided during the application process; however, final decisions are based on role availability and business needs.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Develop simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase velocity and quality.
• Create and update network standards, ensuring deployments meet these standards.
• Collaborate with internal customers on design and solution concepts through to production.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of one quarter remaining in a degree program or equivalent.
• Knowledge of IP‑networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other routing and switching technologies.
• Experience with network hardware and packet‑forwarding architectures.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to handle ambiguous or undefined challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying, scaling, and automating network infrastructures across global datacenters, including existing footprints and greenfield sites.
• Familiarity with automation tools and ability to define scalable tools for network deployment.

• Cupertino, CA, USA: $131,200.00 – $185,000.00 per year
• Arlington, VA, USA: $114,100.00 – $160,000.00 per year
• Herndon, VA, USA: $114,100.00 – $160,000.00 per year
• Seattle, WA, USA: $114,100.00 – $160,000.00 per year
