Role Description Industry : Telecommunication Job Profile : Optical Engineer Job Location : Monza e Brianza, Lombardy

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Identify emerging technologies in the field of optics through technology scouting activities. Assess enabling technologies for the introduction of next-generation transceivers. Define requirements for custom applications, working with PLM and suppliers. Drawing up procurement specifications. Analyze RFQ feedback and classify suppliers in collaboration with the Procurement team. Coordinate remote validation activities, including the design of test lists, planning and review of results. Perform validation tasks. Manage projects, including the preparation of status update reports.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering. Solid knowledge of pluggable transceivers for Datacom and Telecom applications (access and transport application spaces), with focus on 100G, 200G, 400G and 800G. In-depth understanding of form factors and their MSA specifications. Previous experience with Python LabVIEW knowledge is considered a plus Advanced competence in optical and microelectronic technologies and optical propagation. Thorough familiarity with established standards (MSA, ITU-T, IEEE, OIF) for optical interfaces. Experience in test automation for validation set-up, based on Lab View infrastructure. Ability to manage negotiations and technical discussions with suppliers. Excellent communication skills (Italian and English). Ability to work as a team in a virtual and international environment. Flexibility for travel abroad. Spirit of challenge and ability to work under pressure. Project and programme management skills.
