Info
I am currently a Research Fellow at the University of Pisa, working on high-performance 5G User Plane Functions. For the last two and a half years I have been working in industry. My most recent experience was as a Software Engineer II at the Marine division of Garmin, and lasted almost a year.
As a part of the Cartography Tools team, I worked on low-level aspects related to the acquisition, handling, and presentation of cartographic data. Prior to that, I spent over a year as an R&D Software Engineer at ZeroNoise, the R&D electronics division of Racing Force Group. In this position, I oversaw the design and implementation of firmware and software for high-performance and reliable audio communication systems for rally and motorsport racing competitions.
I also supervised the entire patent writing and review process, resulting in the issuance of one U.S. patent and six other international patents.
I pursued my PhD at the Information Engineering Department of the University of Pisa, Italy. Furthermore, I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Computer Science Department of the same university. I have co-authored nine peer-reviewed papers related to my research interests, and published at international conferences and journals.
My research focused on data stream processing applications in the networking domain, high-performance packet processing on multicores and SmartNICs, software data plane acceleration, parallel and distributed computing.

- Skills: C++, Bash, Docker, GitHub Markdown, Research, Project Management, Leadership.
May 2024 - Mar 2025, Massarosa, Italy (hybrid)
- Garmin Marine division deals with challenges related to cartographic data acquisition, manipulation, and representation. Cartographic images must be made available to users via Multi-Functional Displays (MFD) on their leisure boats or through the mobile app. Also, proper data formats must be designed to efficiently store and retrieve information during all processing stages leading to the creation of the final image.
- Dealt with challenges in acquiring, manipulating, and presenting cartographic data for Garmin Marine division.
- Led development of a new feature in a complex C++ project focused on bathymetric data handling.
- Managed CI/CD processes for the main project using Jenkins, Docker, Bash, and Python scripting.
- Collaborated effectively in an Agile environment following Scrum framework, with teams distributed across Italy, India, and USA.
- Skills: C++, Bash, Python, Java, JNI, GoogleTest, GeoJSON, Docker, Jenkins, Nexus, CI/CD, Git, QGIS, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Technical Design Documents.

Formazione
Università di Pisa (PhD)
Computer Engineering and Telecommunications (Graduated with high honors), Pisa (Italy), May 2023
- Oversaw the entire organization and development of my research project, which focused on the usage of the Data Stream Processing (DaSP) computational model in programmable networks. The fundamental idea of my research was to accelerate network applications – performing near real-time processing of streams of packets and telemetry data – on multicores and coprocessors.
- Achieved high performance while providing to the programmers high-level abstractions that hide the complexity related to both network programming and parallelism management.
- Contributed to open source projects WindFlow and Nethuns.
- Worked using C++, C, eBPF, XDP, AF_XDP, Network Programming, Java, Apache Storm, Flink, SparkStreaming technologies.
Computer Science and Networking (Graduated with honors), Pisa (Italy), Oct 2019
- Designed and implemented a benchmark of four real-world DaSP applications using Apache Storm, Apache Flink and WindFlow.
- Supported the performance comparison between traditional stream processing systems, like Storm and Flink, and the WindFlow streaming library, developed at University of Pisa, through extensive experiments.
- Worked using C++, Java, Apache Storm, Apache Flink, GDAL library, GeoTools library technologies.
Computer Science, Pisa (Italy), March 2016
- Thesis on Programming Techniques for FPGA Devices
