Francesca Cogo

Recently graduated in biotechnology I am opened to new challenge to depeen my knowledge.

I have recently finished an internship of one year in Andrea's Alimonti laboratory (IOR, Institute of Oncology Research) in Switzerland. I have worked on different projects focused on the therapeutic role of senescence in prostate cancer, senolytic therapy both for ageing and cancer diseases. I had the opportunity to design the experiments to solve scientific question and to perform in vitro and in vivo experiments, perform data analysis and interpretate the results. Moreover, I had the chance to present the data of my work on a weekly basis, therefore improving presentation skills. A huge part of my work was focused on a multi laboratory project, involving 4 labs within Swiss aimed to dissect the role of senescence in cancer. Results of my study are involved in my thesis entitled “ emerging therapeutic strategies for prostate cancer: a senescent approach”. During my internship I have learnt how to perform reverse transcription, Real time qPCR, protein extraction, western blot, cell culture analysis, betgal assay and crystal violet assay.

I have just graduated with summa cum laude from University of Verona (Italy) with a master’s in molecular and medical biotechnology.
