Phone Verification via SMS

Overview

Phone verification confirms that you own the phone number listed on your profile. Verified numbers display a trust badge visible to other users, and they unlock the ability to share your phone and WhatsApp contact details through BeBee's contact permission system.

How to Verify Your Phone Number

1. Go to Settings > Phone Verification.
2. Enter your phone number with the international country code (e.g., +1 for the US, +44 for the UK).
3. Click Send Code.
4. You will receive a 6-digit verification code via SMS within a few seconds.
5. Enter the code in the verification field on screen.
6. Click Verify.

Once verified, a checkmark appears next to your phone number on your profile.

What Verification Unlocks

Contact Permissions

After verification, you can control exactly who sees your phone number, WhatsApp, and email through the contact permissions settings:

• After application or proposal -- your contact details are shared only with employers or clients you have already engaged with.
• Premium requirement -- the other party may need a Premium subscription to view your direct contact information.
• Full control -- you can enable or disable phone, WhatsApp, and email visibility independently at any time.

Trust Signal

Recruiters and potential clients see that your phone number is verified, which increases confidence in your profile. Verified users tend to receive more messages and opportunities.

Troubleshooting

• Wrong country code. Double-check that the country code matches your phone's SIM card region.
• Code expired. Verification codes are valid for 10 minutes. If the code expires, request a new one.
• SMS not arriving. Some carriers delay delivery. Wait a full minute before requesting a resend. Ensure your phone is not blocking messages from short codes.
• Multiple attempts. There is a rate limit on verification requests. If you exceed it, wait 15 minutes before trying again.
