Apparel Product Developer

Position Overview

This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end apparel product development process, from seasonal kickoff through commercialization. The person will work closely with Design, Marketing, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure products are developed on time, within target margins, and according to adidas quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the apparel development process from concept to buy-ready stage
• Coordinating with Design, Marketing, suppliers, and other stakeholders
• Reviewing and negotiating product costs with suppliers
• Managing tech packs, samples, fittings, measurements, and approvals
• Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and testing requirements
• Providing development direction on fit, pattern, and measurements for less complex styles
• Managing timelines, milestones, and related meetings

Required Experience

• Apparel product development experience (must-have)
• Strong understanding of garment construction, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Experience in fit sessions, pattern review, measurements, and sample evaluation
• Knowledge of quality management and testing requirements
• Experience with costing, target FOB management, and supplier communication
• Experience with woven apparel categories such as jackets and pants
• Sportswear industry experience is a plus

Skills

• Fluent Japanese
• Business-level English
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, etc.)
• Experience using Product Data Management systems and MS Office

• Business trips to China approximately twice per year
