Overview A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Application Developer to support and enhance business-critical systems while contributing to the development of next-generation platforms.
This role is part of a collaborative regional technology team based in Japan, offering the opportunity to work across multiple technologies and platforms within a large-scale global banking and financial services environment.
The successful candidate will focus primarily on system design and development, partnering closely with both business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable solutions across enterprise and trading-related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain business-critical applications and systems
- Design and build applications using Java, Python, and SQL-based databases
- Create and maintain database objects including SQL queries, stored procedures, and views
- Translate business and technical requirements into maintainable, high-quality code
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality
- Collaborate with local and regional engineering teams on development initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years of hands-on application development experience
- Strong programming experience in Java and Python
- Python experience is a plus
- Experience with SQL databases
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Work Arrangement
