Application Engineer

About the Role

ComAp Japan is looking for an Application Engineer to support our growing business across power generation, marine, microgrid, renewable energy and industrial control applications. This is a hands-on technical role focused on project execution, commissioning, on-site customer support, application engineering and product validation. With a growing pipeline of solution sales and white box sales in Japan, this position is critical to maintaining momentum across awarded and pipeline projects and ensuring successful delivery for our customers.

You will work closely with customers, OEMs, partners, the local Japan team and ComAp HQ to support technical delivery, site commissioning and validation of ComAp solutions in the local and export markets, including applications involving engine-driven and marine environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support commissioning activities for ComAp solutions across Japan and occasionally overseas
• Provide on-site technical support for installation, start-up, testing, tuning, troubleshooting and handover
• Support project execution across awarded and pipeline projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery
• Work with local customers and OEMs to validate applications and products for Japan and export market requirements
• Support applications across power generation, marine and industrial engine-driven environments
• Provide technical support for ComAp products by phone, email and in person
• Assist with application design and review, including control systems, switchgear integration and technical documentation
• Deliver technical training to customers, distributors, partners and OEMs
• Collaborate with sales on technically complex opportunities and help define solutions
• Provide structured feedback to R&D and HQ based on field experience and customer needs

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics or related Engineering field
• Experience in application engineering, commissioning, field service or technical support
• Knowledge of power systems, control systems, generators, engines, switchgear or similar equipment
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical documentation
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
• Experience working with customers, OEMs or industrial partners
• Japanese: native level
• English: professional working level (desirable/flexible but not essential)
• Driving licence and willingness to travel frequently within Japan and occasionally overseas

• Marine, engine-driven, power generation or industrial control applications
• Microgrid, hybrid power, battery storage or renewable energy
• Customer site commissioning
• Working with OEMs, panel builders or industrial customers in Japan
• Delivering technical training or working in bilingual environments
