About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Azure Application Modernization Lead with 13+ years of development and application modernization experience, strong Azure PaaS expertise, and hands‑on technical leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep understanding of application hosting, modernization, migration pathways, cloud architectures, and containerization, along with experience guiding teams through complex modernization journeys.

Key Responsibilities

Azure PaaS & Application Modernization

Modernize and migrate applications to Azure PaaS services including App Service, Azure Functions, AKS, Azure Container Instances.

Host, configure, optimize, and troubleshoot applications on IIS, Azure PaaS, and cloud-native environments.

Conduct end‑to‑end application performance assessment—pre and post migration.

Analyze application architecture, integration points, dependencies, and identify modernization pathways.

Containerize application front‑end and back‑end components; deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes (AKS).

Architecture, Infrastructure & Cloud Adoption

Understand customer on-prem and cloud infrastructure landscape and develop Azure target‑state architectures.

Design and recommend Azure Landing Zones, governance components, and adoption best practices.

Ensure solution designs address business, application, infrastructure, and value-for‑money aspects.

Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Data Platform, DevOps, and Integration teams to ensure standardized Azure adoption.

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor a team of 5+ engineers; provide hands‑on technical guidance.

Drive code quality, architecture reviews, and technical governance during migration or modernization projects.

Primary Skills (Must‑Have)

Strong web application development experience.

Hands‑on experience building and hosting applications on Azure PaaS (App Service, Functions, AKS, ACI).

Basic to intermediate understanding of database concepts—tables, indexes, stored procedures, queries.

Experience with SQL Server / MySQL / PostgreSQL (installation, configuration, basic maintenance).

Ability to analyze and map application dependencies and suggest modernization strategies.

Ability to identify configuration issues, performance bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have)

Troubleshooting experience with Azure PaaS services.

Working knowledge of containerization, Docker, and Kubernetes fundamentals.

Ability to work with internal teams and customers to translate migration requirements into practical solutions.
