Artificial Intelligence Engineer

A fast-growing AI technology company in Tokyo is hiring a Senior AI Solution Engineer to drive enterprise AI solution development. This company delivers end-to-end generative AI transformation services, supporting clients from strategy and proof-of-concept to full-scale implementation and operational optimization.

You will join the Client Solution Development team and work directly with enterprise customers to design and implement AI-powered systems that solve real business challenges.

About the Role

As a Senior AI Solution Engineer, you will analyze customer challenges, design optimal AI-driven solutions, and lead development efforts. This role combines hands-on engineering, solution architecture, and client-facing technical leadership.

You will work on LLM-based systems, RAG architectures, automation platforms, conversational AI, and enterprise AI integrations.

Responsibilities

Customer Challenge Analysis & Solution Design

• Analyze business challenges and design AI-driven solutions
• Propose and validate approaches using machine learning and deep learning
• Design integrated solutions leveraging internal AI platforms
• Define technical requirements and system architecture

AI System Development & Implementation

• Develop and implement AI-powered systems
• Build chatbots and conversational AI systems
• Implement speech recognition and speech synthesis systems
• Implement, tune, and optimize ML models for production
• Design and develop API integrations with client systems
• Build AI systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Design, build, and operate data pipelines

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Design optimal architectures for LLM, RAG, vector DB, search, agents, and orchestration
• Define non-functional requirements including scalability, availability, and security
• Lead projects and manage technical progress
• Provide technical explanations, demos, and implementation support to clients
• Verify feasibility of customer requirements and propose solutions
• Provide ongoing maintenance and operational support

Tech Environment

• Backend: Python
• Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js
• Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, Docker
• Tools: GitHub, Slack, Confluence, Notion, Linear
• Hardware: Mac (Apple Silicon), dual monitors

Development organization consists of approximately 65 engineers across Client Solutions, AI SaaS, and Infra/Data/AI R&D teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical field
• 3 years of full-stack development experience using TypeScript/React and Python
• Experience with API and system integration
• Experience defining requirements and delivering custom development projects for clients
• Team leadership experience such as Tech Lead or Lead Engineer
• Strong interest and foundational knowledge in AI and machine learning
• Experience with cloud platforms AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
• Japanese: Business to Fluent level

Nice to have:

• Experience developing and operating AI/ML systems
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks
• Experience implementing LLM/RAG systems including vector databases and prompt design
• REST or GraphQL API design experience
• Experience building AI systems on cloud platforms
• Experience with chatbots, speech recognition, or generative AI systems
• Agile development experience
• Project management and client negotiation experience

Conditions

• Salary: ¥8,000,000 – ¥14,000,000
