Java Developer

Company Overview
We are partnering with a leading multinational e-commerce company to hire a
Java Developer for their growing Mobility Services team in Osaka.
As part of one of the world's largest digital ecosystems, serving approximately 100 million users in Japan and more than 1 billion users globally, you will contribute to the development of travel and mobility services including rental car, car-sharing, and bus booking platforms. This team plays a key role in shaping the future of travel in Japan while expanding its global presence.
Due to continued business growth, the Osaka engineering team is expanding and seeking talented backend developers to join their mission.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and web APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and enhance travel and mobility-related services, including rental car, car-sharing, and bus booking platforms.
- Develop scalable systems capable of handling high-volume traffic.
- Own the software development lifecycle from system design and implementation to deployment and maintenance.
- Perform server-side development and support database-related tasks.
- Participate in DevOps activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of software development experience using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining web APIs from scratch.
- Ability to understand technical documentation, system design, and architecture documents.
- Experience working in Linux development and server environments.
- Experience with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and other RDBMS technologies.
- Experience using Git and Jenkins in a development environment.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience conducting code reviews and design reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
- Japanese language skills.
- Experience with large-scale web services or high-traffic applications.
- Experience with DevOps practices and operations.
- Experience in the travel, transportation, or mobility services industry.
