We are hiring a Field Operator to support cooking robots after installation. You will visit customer kitchens to explain operation, inspect and clean equipment, check how it is used, and record and report your findings.
Our customers are food-service businesses such as restaurants and employee cafeterias.
Mirai Kitchen aims to make cooking easier and more enjoyable, and give people greater freedom in cooking.
[About the role]
This is a hands-on field role, not a desk-based planning-only position, management role, or executive-track position.
A Field Operator connects people, procedures, and cooking robots in real kitchens.
Our work does not end when a machine is installed. We listen to users, observe actual usage and kitchen flow, and help ensure the equipment can be used reliably in day-to-day operations.
When someone says, "It's hard to use" or "Something is wrong," we do not jump to a conclusion. We check when it happened, who was operating the equipment, and what they were doing, then organize the facts so colleagues who were not on site can understand the situation.
[Minimum three years as a Field Operator]
Mid-career full-time employees must spend at least three years with Field Operator work as their main duty.
A few months of observation cannot show the full reality of a kitchen. The same site changes across busy and quiet periods, normal days and malfunction days, staff changes, and handovers. Different customers also have different menus, peak times, layouts, and staffing.
Field Operators therefore need sustained responsibility: not only explaining once, but checking whether the equipment continues to be used and whether problems return. These three years are the role itself, not short-term training or a waiting period before another position. You may continue as a Field Operator after three years, and we do not guarantee transfer, concurrent assignment, timing, or scope in another role.
[Main field responsibilities]
- Review previous records, unresolved items, the purpose of the visit, and required materials before visiting.
- Check the cooking robot's condition and how it is actually being used in the kitchen.
- Provide operating guidance; perform inspections, cleaning, replenishment, routine maintenance, and adjustments within your assigned scope.
- Ask users about difficulties, inconveniences, and reasons the equipment may no longer be used.
- Observe kitchen flow, staffing, handover, training, and cleaning or replenishment burden.
- Record warnings, errors, logs, photos, timestamps, and preceding operations.
- Separate observed facts, customer statements, your own interpretation, and unconfirmed items when reporting internally.
- Revisit sites when necessary to check what changed after the previous response.
Primary information collected on site may, after internal review, lead to proposals to the manufacturer for parts or specification changes. Field Operators do not independently modify equipment or promise specification changes to customers.
[How we work]
We value the principle: Think. Act. Improve. Create value.
Employees are expected to begin visiting customer sites independently relatively early, but independent visits do not mean working without internal support. Do not change settings, procedures, or specifications on your own. When a decision is unclear, organize the facts and consult internally. Work involving internal machine components, electrical systems, wiring, or disassembly is handled by qualified or company-designated personnel.
[Working environment]
The job includes cleaning and washing, dealing with oil residue, checking floors and areas around equipment, standing work, crouching, and carrying tools or parts. Kitchens may involve water, oil, detergent, food and cooking odors, and heat.
Women are also active members of our team.
[Common requirements]
Specialized machinery or IT expertise, programming, machine disassembly, building PCs, and prior tool-use experience are not mandatory.
You must be able to use PCs and tablets at a basic level, listen carefully, record facts, and report and consult appropriately.
You must also be able to handle customer communication, internal reporting and consultation, understand work instructions, keep records, and write emails and documents in Japanese. We assess practical ability to work in Japanese, not certificates alone.
[Who we're looking for]
We value careful observation and communication more than prior technical expertise.
- Listen before jumping to a conclusion.
- Check when, who, and what operation was involved instead of relying on assumptions.
- Explain clearly to people who may not be comfortable with machines.
- Separate observed facts, customer statements, your own interpretation, and unconfirmed items in records.
- Take a safe next step within your scope and consult internally when judgment is needed.
- Accept cleaning and other hands-on kitchen work as part of the role.
Programming, machine disassembly, PC building, and prior tool-use experience are not required. Basic PC/tablet use, email/chat, documents, spreadsheets, file management, and photo/screenshot-based recording are required.
This role is not a fit for someone seeking desk-only work, prolonged shadowing before acting independently, minimal customer interaction or documentation, or freedom to change settings and procedures without confirmation.
[Mandatory food-site requirements]
Because this role regularly enters food-service kitchens, the following rules are mandatory:
- Tattoos: not permitted regardless of size, location, design, or whether they can be covered.
- Nail polish, gel nails, artificial nails, or similar nail decoration: not permitted, including clear or skin-tone products.
- Piercings, earrings, and similar accessories: not permitted.
- Perfume: not permitted. Strongly scented cosmetics, hair products, body products, fabric softener, and similar items must comply with food-site and customer standards.
We do not assume individual exceptions, reassignment to another role, substitute duties, or post-hire negotiation of these requirements. If a false declaration or intentional nondisclosure of a material fact is discovered after hiring, we will confirm the facts with the individual and respond under our work rules and internal regulations.
[Application and selection]
We do not conduct casual interviews. This is a mid-career recruitment process; there is no route to apply directly as a new graduate and become a full-time employee.
After you apply, we will provide submission instructions and the deadline.
Application documents: resume, a statement of your motivation for applying (approximately one A4 page), a statement of your strengths and experience (approximately one A4 page), a work history document if you have prior work experience, and our designated entry sheet.
