Job Overview
We are seeking a Java Developer to support a sales application remediation initiative focused on updating several web pages involved in selling insurance products. This role will primarily support backend work within a Spring Boot environment while partnering closely with UI-focused team members and stepping into front-end tasks as needed. The ideal candidate brings a solid Java foundation, understands core development concepts, and can effectively review and validate AI-generated code rather than relying on heavy manual coding.
This position requires an agile mindset and the flexibility to move between frontend and backend priorities based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support remediation work for a sales application, including updates to multiple web pages used in the sale of insurance products.
- Provide strong backend support in a Spring Boot architecture while collaborating with a team that is primarily focused on UI delivery.
- Review, validate, and refine AI-generated Java code to ensure quality, maintainability, and alignment with project requirements.
- Assist with front-end updates when needed, depending on sprint priorities and changing business requirements.
- Work within an agile delivery model and adapt across frontend and backend tasks to support project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Java Background: Solid understanding of Java fundamentals and application development concepts, with the ability to assess and review code quality even when much of the code is generated using AI tools.
- Backend Focus: Experience or strong interest in backend development, with the ability to contribute where the team needs deeper backend coverage.
- Spring Boot Environment: Familiarity with applications built using Spring Boot architecture.
- Agile Delivery: Experience working in agile teams and the flexibility to shift between backend and front-end tasks based on project requirements.
- Code Review Mindset: Ability to understand generated code, identify risks or gaps, and make informed recommendations without needing to be a deep hands-on Java expert.
