Operations Automation Engineer

Role Description findn is engaged with one of Japan's largest securities companies to transform a large-scale 運用監視 (systems monitoring and operations) function. Currently, operators monitor approximately 2,000 alert items around the clock, 24/7, performing manual tasks such as alert escalation, job restarts, and incident response.

We are seeking a skilled Operations Automation Engineer to design, build, and operationalize end-to-end automation flows using PagerDuty and n8n. Your work will eliminate repetitive manual operations, reduce alert fatigue, and move the team toward a fully automated, low-touch operations mode.

Qualification

Automation Design & Development

• Analyze and document the existing ~900 運用監視 alert items, categorizing by type, frequency, and automation potential
• Design and implement automated workflows in n8n for alert triage, escalation routing, job restart sequences, and incident response runbooks
• Integrate PagerDuty with n8n and downstream systems (ticketing, Slack, monitoring platforms) to create end-to-end alert-to-resolution pipelines
• Build reusable workflow components and templates to accelerate automation coverage

Operation & Reliability

• Define and monitor SLOs/SLAs for automated flows; establish error handling, fallback logic, and alerting for automation failures
• Conduct POCs to validate automation candidates before full rollout
• Maintain documentation for all automation flows, integration architecture, and runbooks
• Collaborate with client operations teams to gather requirements, validate automations, and drive adoption

Senior-Level Additional Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end automation architecture and roadmap for the engagement
• Lead phased rollout planning: from POC → pilot → production at scale
• Mentor mid-level engineers and review designs and implementations
• Act as primary technical liaison with the client's operations leadership
• Must be Excellent in Japanese language and culture as this is a client facing engagement

Requirements

Experience

Mid: 3–5 yrs | Senior: 5–8 yrs in IT operations, SRE, or automation engineering

PagerDuty

Experience building or administering PagerDuty: routing rules, escalation policies, services, webhooks n8n / Workflow

Hands-on workflow automation with n8n, Zapier, Airflow, or equivalent low-code/no-code tools

Scripting

Python or JavaScript/Node.js for custom logic, API integrations, and data transformation

Monitoring

Experience with monitoring/observability platforms (Zabbix, Datadog, Prometheus, Nagios, or equivalent)

Japanese

Business-level Japanese (reading/writing technical docs; client communication in Japanese)

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services or securities industry IT operations
• Knowledge of Japanese operations culture
• Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management)
• Container/Kubernetes experience for deploying automation infrastructure
• Familiarity with ITIL or SRE practices
• (Senior) Prior consulting or client-facing project delivery experience
