A fast-growing Japanese product company is expanding its R&D platform team. You'll own the foundations that let researchers and engineers run GPU/ML workloads safely and efficiently, while also operating a large-scale microservices platform. This is a high-ownership role where your architecture calls ("build vs. adopt vs. enable," "where the complexity lives") directly shape the organization's productivity and reliability.
What you'll do
- Design, build & operate the R&D org's core platform: EKS, CI/CD, observability, FinOps
- Run a Cloud Development Environment (CDE) / Job platform so teams execute GPU/ML workloads safely
- Own reliability through SLO design, incident response & alerting
- Scale IaC patterns and design reviews so teams move autonomously
- Partner day-to-day with ML engineers and researchers

Must-have
- 2 yrs designing/operating shared platforms in production
- IaC (e.g., Terraform); AWS or GCP
- Judgment on abstraction & developer cognitive load
- Business-level Japanese or higher
Nice-to-have
- Deep Kubernetes internals; security-minded design (IRSA, NetworkPolicy, audit logs)
- SRE / FinOps experience; CNCF involvement or tech-blog / conference activity
