Software Engineer (Developer Relations)
What does a successful Developer Relations Technical Solutions Engineer do?
This role works cross‑functionally with teams across Clover—including Technical Writers, Squad Engineers, Operations, and Product Managers—in a responsive and close‑knit environment. You will become a subject‑matter expert in our products, manage high‑priority technical escalations, enhance developer documentation, investigate complex technical challenges, and deliver data‑driven, high‑impact outcomes.
What You Will Do
- Respond to incoming support requests via email and prioritize issues based on severity
- Troubleshoot technical issues, escalating to Product or Engineering teams when needed, and drive issues through to resolution
- Support developers by responding to questions posted in the community forum
- Work with third‑party developers building apps on the Clover platform and act as the primary technical contact throughout their development journey
- Answer questions related to Clover’s platform technologies, including REST APIs and SDKs (Windows, iOS, Android, etc.)
- Participate in planning and building example apps and demo applications that showcase platform features and best practices
- Contribute to the planning and development of internal tools that improve the support model
- Approve new developer accounts and third‑party applications, working with Fiserv Legal and Compliance to ensure risk alignment
- Lead, manage, and drive projects end-to-end—from discovery calls through to production implementation—guiding developers on how to integrate or build using Clover APIs
- Strong interest in supporting third‑party developers and helping them succeed on the platform
- Demonstrable programming skills and prior experience in technical support
- Ability to write simple code snippets and discuss basic data structures and algorithm choices
- Flexibility to work in a production operations environment with a focus on support
- Strong analytical abilities and a creative, resourceful approach to problem‑solving
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, Python, PHP, C#, JavaScript, or Node.js
- Previous experience in software development, software consulting, or technical support
- Excellent English & Japanese communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Android or iOS is an advantage.
