The crew of a naval destroyer is forced to confront the reality of a new existence when a pandemic kills off most of the earthās population.
After a global pandemic wipes out 80 percent of the worldās population, the crew of lone unaffected U.S. Navy ship, (guided-missile destroyer), the fictional USS Nathan James (DDG-151), must try to find a cure and stop the virus in order to save humanity.

The title of the pilot, āPhase Six,ā refers to the level of the virus that is taking over the world. It is a fast-moving, mutating virus that kills victims within two days.
The entire plot of the series revolves around this disease and trying to eliminate it. [Sound Familiar?]
Scientist Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) is working to fight it, while the crew of a Navy destroyer at first knows nothing about it. Because of their position at sea during the outbreak with no communication, the crew is oblivious to what is happening around the world. But once they learn about it, their mission on the ship changes dramatically.

I declined a free pass into medical at the age of 23 because of brain damage suffered by my toddler. As a result, I diverted into the paths of psychology and human behavior. It would be years before I discovered the cause of both my childrenās brain damage.
