About the role
Reporting to the API Engineering Lead Fintech in Financial Services IT, the full-stack software engineer will play a key role in developing and supporting financial services software, capacity planning, and technology evolution. This role involves engineering front-end user interface components, developing backend microservices, and integrating advanced AI paradigms like Model Context Protocol and Retrieval-Augmented Generation. The engineer will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement, ensuring zero major defects, and optimizing systems to achieve 99.999% service availability.
Responsibilities
- Develop front-end services using HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Next.js, and KoaJS.
- Develop and maintain highly responsive and reusable user interface components.
- Engineer full-stack software using microservices and micro-frontend architectures.
- Develop software solutions for new financial products in accordance with approved design specifications.
- Develop microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Camel.
- Integrate system services using SOAP, REST, and GraphQL APIs.
- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into existing application architectures to enable intelligent features, automated summarization, and natural language interfaces.
- Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases to extend LLM capabilities with domain-specific knowledge.
- Architect and deploy Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to expose core system APIs, databases, and enterprise data securely to AI assistants and agents.
- Build tool-use integrations using MCP that enable autonomous AI agents to execute safe, context-aware operations across internal microservices.
- Implement governance, security, and rate-limiting controls on MCP tool execution and context retrieval pipelines.
- Execute software testing to meet both functional and non-functional requirements (e.g., system monitoring, performance testing).
- Document and maintain software functionality and release notes.
- Troubleshoot, debug, upgrade, and optimize existing systems.
- Improve internal processes in accordance with software development standards, as well as ITIL and Agile frameworks.
- Participate in peer code reviews to ensure high code quality.
- Manage release and change management procedures.
- Contribute to technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement quality assurance measures to improve delivery quality and ensure zero major defects.
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines to automate system deployments.
- Deliver projects on time in alignment with stakeholder agreements.
- Apply Agile and Scrum methodologies to project delivery using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Develop automated tests for functional, performance, and security testing using Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Plan and design system architectures for new financial solutions.
- Drive financial technology evolution to achieve 99.999% service availability.
- Optimize existing systems for improved scalability and efficiency.
Must have skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, or IT (Computing).
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience as an engineer in a Financial Technology or Telecommunications environment.
- Good understanding of common programming paradigms and fundamental React principles (React components, hooks, and lifecycle).
- Good understanding of SSR, SSG, and CSR.
- Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
- Good understanding of Node.js, GraphQL, JSON, and SOAP.
- Knowledge and experience with programming languages including Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
- Knowledge and experience with frameworks and tools including Spring Boot, AngularJS, React, Git, Apache Camel, and Node.js.
- Experience securing APIs using JWT, OAuth2, SAML, Spring Security, etc.
- Knowledge of Agile methodology.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, and version control (Git).
- Good understanding of writing unit tests.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Huawei, or GCP).
- Knowledge of container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, OpenShift container platform, etc.).
- Good presentation, public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Nice to have skills
- Certification in Scrum fundamentals.
