About

I’m a detailed and oriented laboratory technologist who trained at The Eldoret National Polytechnic and have got 2 years of experience in laboratory skills. Seeking a challenging and fast-paced role where I can leverage my skills and experience to make a significant impact. Excited to contribute to an organization that values continuous learning and growth.

Experience

Lab technologist - The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company - Main Water Testing Laboratory

(2024-01 - 2024-03)

During my work experience at The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company man water testing laboratory,I was able to perform the following duties as a lab technologist.

  • Do a report of sampled water analysis of portable water
  • Understand and perform more on standardisation of laboratory reagents
  • Worked more on water and sewer distribution networks
  • Performed more on wastewater treatment processes

Lab technologist - The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company - Sosiani Treatment Works

(2024-03 - 2024-05)

During my work experience at SosianiTreatment Works, I was able to perform the following duties as a lab technologist

  • Understand more on water treatment process such as filtration by sand and chlorination of water
  • Learn more on backwashing of water valves to avoid clogging of small dust particles in water during filtration process
  • Gained more knowledge about the required pH and turbidity of water
  • Able to test the amount of chlorine present in treated water by testing residual chlorine and total chlorine

Quality Control Assistant - Kukuchic Limited Company - Kukuchic Main Hatchery

(2025-11)

During my work experience at the Hatchery, I was able to perform the following duties. A Quality Control Assistant (QCA) in a hatchery is responsible for ensuring maximum hatchability, strict biosecurity, and the delivery of healthy, disease-free, day-old chicks. They monitor biological, environmental, and physical variables throughout the entire 21-day incubation and hatching cycle. The roles of a QCA generally span five main areas:

  • Hatching Egg Quality & Management: Inspecting Egg Intakes: Checking incoming eggs from breeder farms for cracks, cleanliness, and proper sizing.
  • Storage & Handling Control: Ensuring proper temperature and humidity are maintained in egg holding rooms.
  • Egg Breakouts: Conducting unincubated egg breakouts to determine true fertility and spot early embryonic deaths.
  • Incubation & Hatcher Monitoring: Climate Control: Tracking temperature, humidity, and ventilation within setters and hatchers.
  • Machine Calibration: Verifying that the equipment’s sensors (such as thermometers and turning mechanisms) are operating within optimal parameters.
  • Egg Turning Checks: Confirming that egg trays tilt at the correct angles to prevent embryos from sticking to the shell.
  • Chick Quality & Processing: Chick Grading: Evaluating day-old chicks for alertness, navel closure, down colour, and leg health.
  • Vaccination Oversight: Ensuring that vaccines are correctly prepared, stored, and administered to the chicks.
  • Chick Yield: Measuring the weight of the chicks against the initial egg weight to confirm correct moisture loss during incubation .
  • Hygiene & Biosecurity: Routine Sanitation: Overseeing the cleaning and disinfection of hatchers, setters, chick baskets, and processing equipment.
  • Microbial Testing: Swabbing surfaces or conducting "fluff tests" to ensure bacterial and fungal counts remain within safe limits.
  • Data Logging & Traceability: Record Keeping: Maintaining logs of hatch debris analysis (egg breakouts of non-hatched eggs) to track trends and troubleshoot incubation issues.
  • Flock Traceability: Ensuring batches of chicks are accurately traced back to their source flocks for improved quality tracking and issue resolution.
