Daniel Magutu

Highly competent with progressive experience and technical knowledge in the insurance and reinsurance industry. I am a solution-oriented Economics and Statistics graduate who thrives in challenging, fast paced environments where performance directly impacts the bottom line. In addition, I am a team player, fast learner, flexible and possess solid leadership and decision-making skills.

Between September 2017 to April 2019, I started off as an insurance agent partner for More special Insurance Agency. My role involved new business acquisition and business retention. This gave me a platform to grow my business acquisition, customer care and public relations skills.

I later joined kuscco mutual Assurance in May 2019 as an underwriter. In this position, I was tasked to: manage intermediaries, analyze and underwrite risk, communicate with direct clients and welcome, listen and talk to walk in potential customers. I later got promoted in June 2021 to my current position as a Senior Reinsurance Officer.

My daily tasks involve ensuring we are not exposed by ensuring the spread of risk we onboard. I am tasked in ensuring we have reinsurance treaties that are favorable and ideal to our business. In addition my role ensures we submit quarterly reports to the reinsurance on time, annual reports to IRA on time, ensure we adhered to the terms and conditions in the treaties.

Furthermore, I am privileged to give my colleagues an insight on reinsurance by way of frequent training sessions.

I graduated with a Bachelor in Economics and Statistics from University of Nairobi. This course equipped me with knowledge in Microeconomics, Macroeconomic, Sociology, logic and skills in analytics by study of numerical methods, ordinary differential equation, calculus, optimization, real analogy and topology linear algebra.
