Experience includes four months at KALRO's Horticultural Research Institute running proximate analysis and ELISA-based assays on 50+ samples weekly, four months at KITIL Farm maintaining 100+ plant tissue culture samples weekly with aseptic technique, and current role at LITMED College setting up multi-discipline practical sessions and calibrating equipment. Laboratory Technician at LITMED College & Green Oracle (2026-01 – Present)

Responsible for daily laboratory operations across multiple science disciplines — from reagent management and equipment upkeep to student supervision and safety compliance.

• Maintain laboratory reagent and consumable inventory — tracking stock levels, logging usage, and placing replenishment orders before supplies run critically low
• Set up and prepare 25+ laboratory sessions per term: selecting correct reagents, measuring and pre-dispensing samples, labelling clearly, and confirming equipment is functional
• Carry out routine calibration checks on balances, pH meters, spectrophotometers, and other instruments; log all calibration data in equipment maintenance register
• Maintain 100% compliance with safety data sheet (SDS) requirements, waste disposal regulations, and laboratory safety protocols
• Manage full sample evaluation workflow for student practical projects: sample receipt, labelling, preparation, analysis, result recording, and dispatch

Laboratory Intern — Plant Tissue Culture at KITIL Farm (2025-04 – 2025-08)

Worked in controlled sterile production environment maintaining biological culture samples and managing all associated reagents, consumables, and equipment.

• Managed weekly inventory of culture media, agar, growth regulators, disinfectants, and other consumables used across 100+ active culture samples
• Prepared culture media and growth solutions from formulation specifications, measuring and mixing reagents precisely, sterilising batches in autoclave
• Maintained aseptic working conditions inside laminar flow cabinets for all sample handling — achieving consistent 85–90% survival rate
• Cleaned, decontaminated, and maintained autoclaves, incubators, and laminar flow cabinets daily, documenting each maintenance activity
• Conducted systematic root-cause investigation when contamination appeared — tracing back through workflow, adjusting process, and monitoring outcomes

Laboratory Intern — Analytical & Diagnostics at KALRO-HRI (Kenya Agricultural & Livestock Research Organization) (2024-09 – 2024-12)

Worked in multi-project food and agricultural analytical laboratory operating under GLP and ISO/IEC 17025:2017, gaining hands-on experience in sample management, compositional analysis, and diagnostic assays.

• Performed proximate compositional analysis — moisture, crude protein, ether extract (fat), crude fibre, and ash — on 30+ cereal and animal feed samples per analytical cycle
• Conducted ELISA-based diagnostic assays on 50+ samples weekly using UV-VIS microplate readers
